Erin Maguire is a generous, physical, comedic firecracker, whose smart writing recalls the brilliant antics of two iconic redheads who inspire her —Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett.
Originally from Boston, recently Erin made her late-night debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last spring. She also has been featured on The Tamron Hall Show, ESPN, Gotham Live, Game Show Network, and Comedy Central Roasts. She has hosted on SiriusXM radio as well.
Her debut comedy album, Baseline Presentable, hit number one on Apple's Comedy album charts, as did her comedy advice podcast Dear Pod.
It’s great to catch Erin on video, but the real treat is to see her live on stage. Past performances include the prestigious Lucille Ball Comedy Festival for the grand opening of The National Comedy Center, The Boston Comedy Festival, and Women in Comedy Festival.
In addition to hosting our May 6th event, Erin will be performing throughout March in and around New York City. Check out erinmaguire.com for tour dates, ticket info, and links to her social media.
Erin and TEDxAsburyPark founder Brian Smiga sat down recently for a chat, during which he complimented her ability to tune into her audience. “Thank you,” she replied. “[It’s] a very selfish job that we do, which is I'm going to stand on stage and talk alone and make you laugh at me. But ultimately it doesn't work without connecting to the audience.”
“Well, and the answer is we all need it,” said Brian. “We all need that truth, laughter, insight…that foolishness and childishness. That was the theme of our last show, Fool’s Paradise. Our next show, your show, Cakes & Ale will be about how do we amplify foolishness and truth when we gather to party, drink, and feast. I can't wait to see your Irish point of view about it.”
“You and me both,” she laughed.
